For the 2022 edition of Art Basel Miami Beach,
DC Moore Gallery's presentation will be anchored by two important bodies of works by legendary 20th century African American artists Romare Bearden and Jacob Lawrence.
Bayou Fever installation, DC Moore Gallery, 2017
Featured in Kabinett, Bearden’s Bayou Fever is a series of 21 collages that were created in 1979.
The Life of Toussaint L'Ouverture installation, DC Moore Gallery, 2019
Based on a 1938 series of paintings, the rare entire series of 15 prints, The Life of Toussaint L’Ouverture by Lawrence traces the life of L’Ouverture, a key figure in the fight for Haiti to become a democratic nation.
In conversation with these two series of works, the booth will also feature new and recent works by contemporary artists in the gallery’s program, including Valerie Jaudon, Whitfield Lovell, and Carrie Moyer.
